Within the Spoorkwartier, our area development WärtZ plays a key role. This subarea is transforming old workplaces into an inspiring innovation district. It will be a place where innovation, future-oriented living, creativity and connection come together. The program consists of 850 homes for all ages and a 26,500 m2 non-residential program including hospitality, educational institutions, neighborhood facilities and spaces for creative makers.
Adoption of Spoorkwartier Zwolle zoning plan important step for WärtZ area development
6 December 2024The college of mayors and aldermen of the municipality of Zwolle has approved the zoning plan for District Z, Werkplaatsen and Lurelui – together known as the Spoorkwartier. This is an important milestone for the future of Zwolle and the transformation of the Spoorzone. An agreement between the Municipality of Zwolle and NS Stations was also signed, in which agreements were made to realize a mixed building program with space for living, working and facilities.

In the railroad zone, several social challenges come together in an ambitious program. Not only new housing and buildings are being built, but also a livable and sustainable environment. Important themes are climate-adaptive building, space for creativity and culture, and strengthening the connection between education, labor market and entrepreneurship.
The plans for the Spoorkwartier area are the result of intensive cooperation with the municipality of Zwolle, NS Stations and other partners, as well as the involvement of residents and entrepreneurs. Together we are taking steps to make the Spoorkwartier a sustainable, future-proof urban area.
