“Hero of Breda” will be a green, urban living environment where health and social interaction are paramount. In July, the construction of the first apartment complex started (De Meeker, 102 apartments, investor A.S.R.) and the new sports container was festively inaugurated. WonenBreburg's 'De Chester' residential building will house a community living room for the neighborhood, where all residents can meet and participate in various activities.
Hero van Breda will be an attractive, green residential neighborhood with a car-free inner area with plenty of room for interaction, sports and relaxation.
With a nod to the historic Hero factory, 'De Chester' will bear a yet-to-be-designed representation of the Hero factory on its façade, creating a unique connection with the city.
Hans Pars, board chairman WonenBreburg: “We are working hard this year to start construction within 12 months of more than 1,000 homes in Breda and Tilburg. With this we can offer a lot of house seekers a new home. Besides numbers, the quality of housing is also very important. Hero of Breda is a great example of this. Especially the attention to public space with a green environment that invites to meet and exercise appeals. We are very happy to soon be able to offer 78 house seekers a new home in the 'De Chester' apartment complex.”

Sustainable living
At Hero van Breda, sustainability is key. All the apartments of 'De Chester' are completely gas-free, will be equipped with district heating and a large collective bicycle shed to promote exercise. Future-proof and sustainable materials will be used during construction, contributing to an environmentally friendly living environment.
In addition to the realization of these 78 apartments and the 102 apartments started in July '24, 174 ground-level owner-occupied homes, 48 owner-occupied apartments for first-time buyers and a primary medical center HOED (Huisartsen Onder Een Dak) with accompanying 20 social care apartments will also be realized.
Jaap van Engelshoven, Director of Development, area developer AM: “With the realization of this apartment building, we are taking a nice next step in the Hero van Breda area development. We are very pleased that in these challenging market conditions we have come to an agreement for the construction of 78 apartments and with this we meet the high demand for social housing in and around Breda.”
Jeffry Savelkoul, Commercial Director BAM Wonen: “We are proud that we are going to realize this beautiful and energy efficient apartment complex for WonenBreburg. By using sustainable materials, we are fulfilling our vision: a sustainable (t)home for everyone!”
