Festive delivery of The Entrance in RijswijkBuiten

3 October 2024

De Entree in RijswijkBuiten has been completed. Together with residents and cooperation partners, alderman Gijs van Malsen, Gilbert Kokenberg (Harnaschpoldder C.V.), Aniel Ramawadh (Vidomes), and Bart Bakkers (Health Center Rijswijk) celebrated the completion of this new construction project. The development consists of two apartment buildings; De Beuken and De Berken with a mix of 32 owner-occupied, 28 social housing units for seniors and a new health center.

Care and living come together

The Entrance meets a great social need and contributes to the diversity of the neighborhood. The 28 social rental apartments of Vidomes in De Berken residential building are now occupied by people aged 55 and older who have moved on from a larger home and by seniors with light care needs. With the flow through, single-family homes became available for other house seekers. The apartments are located above the health center RijswijkBuiten, which opened its doors before the summer. All 32 owner-occupied apartments in the De Beuken apartment complex have also been occupied.

Housing alderman Gijs van Malsen: “De Entree is a good example of how to build a diverse neighborhood where everyone can and wants to live. With the right mix of owner-occupied, social rental and customized care supply. In Rijswijk we build decent and appropriate housing for all incomes.”

All apartments and the health center are energy efficient and equipped with high-quality insulation, individual heat pumps and solar panels.

Green and sustainable neighborhood

De Entree is located in subarea Parkrijk, an area that owes its name to the adjacent Wilhelmina Park, which covers no less than 150 acres of green space. This park was the inspiration for the urban design of the district. Every street in Parkrijk will soon be connected to this city park, and the long avenues of houses form an extension of the park.

About 3,500 homes will be built in RijswijkBuiten until 2030, with sustainability at the core of the project. For example, rainwater from roofs and roads flows through special gutters to the lowest point in the road profile. The water is then collected and discharged to the Wilhelmina Park via specially designed green strips and waterways. This system helps drain rainwater efficiently to surrounding water features, preventing flooding and damage to homes and infrastructure.

The Parkrijk subarea also has a smart approach to mobility. There is plenty of room for cyclists and pedestrians and residents of Parkrijk can make use of (electric) shared cars and electric shared bicycles from shared carrier Hely. These are available at a number of central mobility points, so-called Hely Hubs, in the neighborhood.

Collaboration

The De Entree project is the result of intensive collaboration between the municipality of Rijswijk, Harnaschpolder C.V. (a collaboration between the area developers AM and VolkerWessels Vastgoed) and housing association Vidomes. The construction was in the hands of Intercontinental Estate B.V. The design of De Entree comes from Steenhuis Bukman Architects from Delft.
